Podcasting

What is a podcast?
It is an audio broadcast that has been converted to an MP3 file or other audio file format for playback in a digital music player or computer. An enhanced podcast has both audio and slides.

There are 3 major types of podcasts:
  1. audio only--can use a free recorder program such as audacity
  2. audio and still images--easy to create in Windows Movie Maker
  3. video (vodcast, video podcast)--easy to create in Windows Movie Maker

  • Radio WillowWeb is a series of podcasts produced by students and teachers in grades K-5 at Willowdale Elementary School in Omaha, Nebraska.
  • First Grade on Air is a series of podcasts from Mrs. Berthiaume's first grade class in Minnesota.
  • Decatur Intermediate Schoolstudents have researched, interviewed, and gathered all of their information to create podcasts concerning LBJ National Grassland Issues.
